Our values

‘Never see a need without doing something about it’

St Joseph’s Parish School in Gladstone is committed to helping all children achieve their personal best by offering high quality, faith-centred educational programs, with an array of resources, including modern technology and facilities for music, the arts and sports.

There is a strong emphasis on Religious Education. While many of our students are non-Catholic, the school is conscious of being faithful to the needs of all students, while embracing the Catholic tradition. Particular focus, in all year levels, is placed upon morning literacy and numeracy blocks that are separated by daily fruit and fitness times.

Catholic schools are only partially funded by the State and Australian Government however, our policy is that no child is to be denied a Catholic education and in consultation with the principal, every effort will be made to provide a Christian education for the children entrusted into our care.

The values that are at the heart of our School community are based on our vision for our students and the future.

Our vision statement

St Joseph’s is a Reception to Year 7 Catholic School which promotes the values and teachings of Jesus Christ.

In the tradition of the Sisters of St Joseph we have a commitment to bring Catholic education to all regardless of their means.

St Joseph’s strives to promote the total growth of its students by acknowledging and developing the spiritual, academic, physical and creative aspects of each individual child. We are committed to the search for new methods in order to better teach traditional areas of study.

We try to instill in each other a spirit of reconciliation and hope. We value and celebrate gifts of human creativity, tolerance, joy, accomplishment and peace.

We ask ourselves, “What can I give?” not “What can I get.”

Our community expects the following ideals of its members:

  • We are people who demonstrate active caring and justice for all children.
  • We are a faith community open to everyone – a school based on the value of the Gospels which encourages freedom for children to develop as individuals.
  • We are a group who model Christian morals/values and we come together to experience and celebrate our faith.

We aim to provide a happy environment, where we foster a sense of excitement and enthusiasm for learning.
